Lidl signs up following £4million investment in retail park

Ambitious plans for IM Properties (IMP) new Bromsgrove town centre retail scheme have taken a major step forward, after supermarket giant, Lidl, signed up.

Lidl is to open a 20,000 sq ft store on the Birmingham Road site in 2018 creating up to 40 new jobs.

The remaining 30,000 sq ft of space is being re-developed and surrounding areas landscaped to attract further high-profile national names. Site work is already well underway after IMP awarded the contract to locally based Benniman.

IMP’s development manager, Richard Sykes, says Lidl’s signing helps to anchor the retail landmark they set out to achieve:

“Lidl adds real profile to the site and will be a huge draw for shoppers to the park when it opens. We always believed Bromsgrove offered a great opportunity to expand our retail portfolio and we’re delighted to bring this significant economic boost to the town centre.

“Whilst pleasing to be able to announce the arrival of LIDL, we are confident we will be announcing more occupiers in the new year.

Warwickshire based IM Properties – one of the UK’s largest privately owned property companies – has a significant proportion of its £900m portfolio invested in the Midlands.

Its major schemes in the region include Mell Square Shopping Centre in Solihull, Blythe Valley Business Park, off J4 of the M42 and 55 Colmore Row in Birmingham, one of the largest mixed-use schemes being developed in the city.
