New tanning centre arrives in town

Sunshine may have been in short supply recently but a Lincoln property developer and a former gym manager have teamed-up to ensure people can still sport a healthy glow!

Lincoln commercial agent Banks Long & Co has let a unit in Waterside South to Colin Hickie and Micky Fidler, who have pooled their resources to create Totally Tropical Tanning – which is creating four new jobs.

The idea came about after Colin – who owns CJH Developments Ltd – and Micky, who used to be a sales manager at Total Fitness and who also goes out with Colin’s daughter, Jessica, got talking about business opportunities earlier this year.

“We are both into fitness and know many people love to have a tan, Micky wanted to try working for himself and so we thought, why not?,” said Colin.

“Our priorities were finding the right location in the centre of Lincoln, at the right price, which we have and we are also close to parking facilities,” said Micky.

“We have revamped the premises and invested in six, upright, 250-watt tanning units. Clients will be able to drop in for quick, three-to-12 minute sessions, or they can book appointments if they wish.

The tanning centre aims to be welcoming its first clients this week. (week beginning Monday 14 May)

Banks Long & Co has let the premises on behalf of its client Lincolnshire Co-operative.

Banks Long surveyor Matthew Brooks said: “This is the second unit that we have let on Waterside South over the past couple of months as occupiers can see the advantage of the flexible terms that we are able to offer on these units.

“Units in the Waterside South and Sincil Street areas are particularly suited to start-up businesses or those who wish to relocate and expand their businesses into the area,  but do no want to get tied-up in a long lease.

“Any other businesses that are looking to expand or relocate into the City Centre and want flexibility should contact us,  as we have a number of units available because of the proposals for the £100 million Lindongate Shopping Centre that will be developed on the site.”
