Swansea Bay Business Club held its final networking lunch of the summer on Friday (14thJuly) as Secretary of State for Wales, Alun Cairns, joined guests at the Margam Orangery.

Alun spoke to guests at length about the fall out from the recent general election as well as what the future might hold for Welsh businesses post-Brexit.  He discussed infrastructure opportunities as well as the recent Repeal Bill and highlighted his determination for Wales to be represented in Brexit decisions.  Businesses in attendance heard Alun discuss the importance of a fair trade deal as he reiterated we should not be accepting a ‘punishment deal’ for leaving the EU, gladly received by attendees who could potentially be affected in the future.

President of Swansea Bay Business Club, Hayley Davies, said: “We were delighted that Alun could join us here today on another brilliant afternoon for the club. We have continued our tradition of providing the highest quality speakers this year and will continue to do so after the summer break. A thank you must also go out to Acorn Executive Search who sponsored the event, as well as our season sponsors, The Training and Learning Company (TLC).”

Swansea Bay Business Club’s networking event season will continue in September when they host their first business breakfast of the year, sponsored by AB Glass, at the St Brides Hotel & Spa in Pembrokeshire.

Glyn Jones, Managing Director of Pembrokeshire based water company Princes Gate, will feature at the breakfast as guest speaker.

Hayley continued: “Our aim this year has been to expand our reach further west and attract new members from across the Carmarthenshire region. To help us achieve this we have already held events in Carmarthen and Llanelli and we are looking forward to what will be another fantastic event in Pembrokeshire.”

Glyn and his brother David founded Princes Gate when they began bottling spring water over twenty-three years ago from their farm in Pembrokeshire. Today the company employs over fifty people who are local to the region and sells tens of millions of bottles of water each year.

Glyn will speak to guests about the growth of his business over the last twenty-three years and his journey from bottling those first bottles of spring water to managing one of the largest and most successful companies in Wales.

Tickets for Swansea Bay Business Club’s September breakfast with Glyn Jones are priced at £15 for members and £17.50 for non-members. This will include the cost of breakfast.

Bookings for the breakfast will close at midnight on Wednesday 30th August.

Guests are asked to arrive by 8 am with the event closing at 10 am.
