Weller Wheels, the only specialist low-volume steel wheel producer in Europe, is launching a new sales, marketing and distribution complex in Stratford-upon-Avon.

The commercial property team at agents SDL Bigwood helped Weller Wheels move into Unit A2 on the Precision Business Centre, one of the town’s most popular industrial locations.

Weller Wheels has taken 4,900 sq ft on a three-year lease.

James Carver, of SDL Bigwood’s commercial agency team, said: “The unit Weller Wheels chose is in a prominent position in close proximity to Stratford-upon-Avon train station and Stratford-upon-Avon College.

“It is handily placed at the heart of the country, with fast access to the M40 and the national motorway network.

“We were very pleased to be able to help a growing company find a new home in Stratford-upon-Avon.”

The move to Stratford follows increased profile in the wake of two major orders.

Weller Wheels designed and manufactured the wheels used on the Land Rover Big Foot Defenders in the Bond film Spectre and won a contract with The AA to supply a “Multi-Fit” spare wheel to the roadside assistance group’s entire UK-wide patrol fleet of vans.

Add in work with Silverstone for the racing circuit’s experience days, special builds for Project Kahn and Weller Wheels’ profile has been accelerating fast.

Alan Lowe, managing director, said: “We were at the point where Weller Wheels was starting to outgrow the production facility in Redditch and needed a support site.

“Our ambition is to develop into a global brand offering British made steel wheels to the worldwide market place. We are starting to build a lifestyle brand and have designed a new clothing range to complement the wheels.

A niche operator which regularly makes bespoke wheels for customers, Weller Wheels targets three main areas – the classic car market including the likes of Morris Minors and VW Beetles, an extreme range taking in 4 x 4s such as Land Rover Defenders and Discoverys, and street custom for the younger generation including extra wide wheels and the iconic 8 spoke.

But it is also well known in motor sport via the supply of wheels to Formula Ford where racing greats like Michael Schumacher, Jenson Button, Nigel Mansell and David Coulthard started out.

Weller Wheels has a reputation for being stylish and strong, not even James Bond could destroy them.

Mr Lowe said: “The wheels were designed to endure and survive a brutal stunt sequence.

“The Defenders got a good beating, and so did our wheels. We’re incredibly proud that they were one of the few bits still intact after getting blown up and thrown down icy mountains!

“Our wheels continue to be British-made from British sourced steel.”
