Browne Jacobson’s corporate finance offering grows with ‘talented’ new appointment

Michael Stace

Browne Jacobson has further strengthened its corporate finance offering in the West Midlands with the appointment of partner Michael Stace into its Birmingham practice.

Michael joins the team from Blake Morgan LLP in the Thames Valley region where he was the joint head of corporate finance.

Michael is already known in the region, having recently acted for the vendors on the disposal of QTR Transport Limited to Palletforce and for the management of IconX Limited on the investment by Connection Capital, both transactions having been advised out of the West Midlands. Michael is also currently engaged on another matter that is being led out of the West Midlands.

Michael was shortlisted for ‘Lawyer of the Year 2016’ at the Thames Valley Deal Awards, having been involved in a number of the region’s high profile transactions and has been described in the leading legal directory Chambers UK as “a very talented individual”.

Browne Jacobson’s team of over 20 corporate finance and banking lawyers advised on over 100 deals in 2016.

Partner and Head of the commercial practice, Gavin Cummings said:

“We are committed to growing our West Midlands practice and Michael’s appointment is a key step in fulfilling this strategy.

“We now have four corporate partners on the ground in Birmingham and this puts us in an ideal position to focus on mid-market transactions in the region. With Michael’s experience, we will also extend out national capability of advising on tech transactions.”

Michael added:

“I am really looking forward to joining a firm with an outstanding reputation as trusted experts in their field and a place where exceptional client service is at the forefront of its strategy and offering.”

This latest appointment takes the number of fee earners across Browne Jacobson’s five office network to over 480 and follows on from a successful year for the law firm which saw it post a record turnover of £64.3m for 2015/16, named ‘Best Managed National Law Firm’ at the Managing Partners’ Forum (MPF) Awards and received its highest ever rankings in the latest edition of Legal 500, the independent directory of comparative law firm performance.
