Cambridgeshire Constabulary take unit at The Lakes Business Park

Work has recently been completed on a new 11,000 sq ft unit for Cambridgeshire Constabulary at the Lakes Business Park in St Ives.

The unit will be used for the maintenance of the Constabulary’s vehicle fleet, which is currently based in three locations, namely, Peterborough, March and Cambridge. The new purpose built facility will allow everything to be housed under one roof in modern premises resulting in substantial efficiency saving.

Jason Ablewhite, Police and Crime Commissioner for Cambridgeshire commented “We were looking for a centrally based site to cover the whole of the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough region. We chose the Lakes because of its central location and easy access to the A14. Replacing three old vehicle workshops with one purpose built one will both improve efficiency and save money in the long term”.

Alan Matthews of Barker Storey Matthews, who is marketing the Lakes on behalf of developers Upstream Developments in association with MPM Properties, said “The fact that we had buildings available on the site was an attraction to the Police as it enabled us to show them what could be achieved in a relatively short space of time. They are the third occupier to move to the development and we are currently talking to a number of companies regarding further bespoke buildings”.
