Poole sees wave of retailer activity

Four names, including New Look, have committed to the line-up of national and independent retailers at the Legal & General owned Dolphin Shopping Centre in Poole. Secured by Lunson Mitchenall & Colliers, the mix of brands will sit alongside anchor tenants Marks & Spencer and Primark.

New Look has committed to take a larger 14,000 sq ft unit, which will open in mid-2017, to add to an already strong presence at the centre. The unit will provide two level trading, double height glazing and will enable the retailer to extend its New Look Menswear, as well as an enhanced range.

Enriching the food and beverage offer, bar and restaurant Loungers will be taking a 4,700 sq ft unit on a 15-year lease. The brand, which has over 70 outlets across the country, will be opening early next year.
Sitting alongside them is burrito bar Mexigo which opened in October. Already in Southampton and 1Bournemouth, the 2,500 sq ft restaurant represents Mexigo’s growth across the South of England. It has taken a 10-year lease.

Sprinkles, the Italian gelato chain have opened a 5,500 sq ft store which is already proving to be very popular with centre’s shoppers.
Popular perfume brand The Fragrance Shop has also just opened a new and upsized 1,000 sq ft store.
The new brands join Starbucks and Holland & Barratt, who recently opened at the centre.

Mark Russell, Fund Manager, Legal & General, said: “We are currently working up exciting plans for the Dolphin Centre and these recent lettings are a positive start.  Our goal, and the plans we are working up for the New Year, will aim to attract more high quality tenants to the scheme, offering our customers’ a  more vibrant shopping experience and more choice than ever before.”

We are confident that the new brands will draw a wider catchment of customers looking to take advantage of the exciting new stores.”

Lunson Mitchenall and Colliers International are the joint agents for The Dolphin Centre.

The Fragrance Shop was represented by Hynes Illingworth and New Look, Loungers and Mexigo were unrepresented.
