Young LSH Surveyor appointed RICS Chair in Lincoln

Charlotte Elkington

Lambert Smith Hampton Surveyor Charlotte Elkington has been appointed RICS Chair in Lincoln.

In her new position at the networking group for local surveying students, trainees and those with less than ten years’ experience, Charlotte hopes to address the skills shortage and build a more diverse workforce.

Part of Charlotte’s role as Chair will be to ensure the committee meet with students at local colleges and universities to offer support to those looking to enter the profession.

Charlotte said: “I plan to build upon the success of our previous chair Matt Cross and continue to work on inspiring the next generation and building a network of young professionals and contacts within the county.

“I want to encourage people from all backgrounds to enter this profession and to look into the range of possibilities and available routes to membership. It is so important that people understand surveying is an exciting and reputable career for all.

“Within my own firm we currently have two members studying alongside their day job – work experience is crucial in order to get a feel for the profession early on.”

Alongside the committee Charlotte is already setting their objectives for the forthcoming year and plan to include a varied range of events including networking, social and professional development opportunities.

Charlotte continued: “The property industry is constantly changing and we all need to get involved to ensure our profession keeps up to date with the latest information so we can continue to deliver the high level of service our members expect.”
