Banks Long & Co boosts its team

Graduate Surveyor Francesca Soady

Lincoln-based chartered surveyor Banks Long & Co has announced the arrival of a new graduate surveyor and the promotion of a colleague who is keen to become an industry professional.

After a year working for the firm as an apprentice, Emily Funnell is thrilled to be embarking on a career as a Trainee Surveyor.

A former pupil of William Farr School in Welton,  Emily (19) joined the firm as an apprentice.  She is now getting further on the job training and will also be doing a four-year degree in Real Estate Management with the University College of Estate Management in Reading, Berkshire, alongside this.

“I have always been interested in commercial property across the board, from shops to offices and warehouses. Working in this industry can be challenging and there is a lot more to it than people imagine,” said Emily.

“I am grateful to the Directors for presenting me with this amazing opportunity and I am excited about the challenges which lie ahead.”

When she is not concentrating on her career path, Emily has plenty of interests which keep her busy.

“I am a dog person. My family has a Beagle, so I go to Crufts every year. I love most genres of music, especially anything classical, and I play the flute and clarinet. I also enjoy sports, as I’m quite competitive. Badminton and swimming are among my favourites.”

And there’s more! Emily also loves watching motorbike racing and enjoys cooking – but maybe not at the same time!

Graduate Surveyor Francesca Soady (22), who is from Tealby in Lincolnshire, has also been welcomed into the Banks Long & Co team.

Francesca has joined the firm after achieving her Degree in Real Estate with Nottingham Trent University.  As part of that, she spent a year out working within the profession in the north of England.

“When it came to finding a job locally, which would allow me to be close to home, I thought it would be difficult, so I was really pleased to have the opportunity to join Banks Long & Co.

“I was aware of the firm because of its good reputation.  The team is very friendly and everyone has made me very welcome,” said Francesca.

“I am ambitious to gain chartered status, but I have started off by working alongside Director William Wall and gaining experience in handling industrial and office deals, as well as learning more about the firm’s wider professional and investment services.”

In her spare time Francesca loves horse-riding and has her own horse, Kissame.

Banks Long & Co Managing Director Tim Bradford said: “As a firm we are committed to investing in locally-based talented young trainee surveyors. Francesca and Emily will learn and fit in well with the Banks Long ethos of delivering a professional service to clients across all sectors. We wish them every success within our growing business.”
