Geldards again secures prominent place on Finance Wales legal panel

Leading law firm Geldards has once again secured a prominent place on the Finance Wales Group legal panel following a competitive tender exercise.

One of the UK’s largest SME investors, the Finance Wales Group comprises Finance Wales plc and a number of subsidiary companies, including FW Capital, xénos and Help to Buy Wales.

Its requirements for legal services are split into distinct work areas, with Geldards being appointed to provide services in several significant areas of work. Notably, Geldards will be the sole provider of fund management and corporate advice in Wales having advised the Finance Wales Group on the formation of many of its existing investment funds, as well as employment and pensions law.

Geldards has again won spots on the separate debt investment and equity investment panels, both of which cover all aspects of debt and equity investment, from early stage pre-revenue businesses to significant development capital and succession transactions.

In addition, Geldards again joins the panel for property development investments, providing loans to construction companies developing small-scale, commercial and residential property schemes.

Geldards will also continue to provide legal advice to the Finance Wales Group on procurement matters under a separate arrangement.

Corporate partner and relationship manager Geraint Tilsley said, “We are thrilled with this opportunity to develop and grow our close working relationships with the Finance Wales Group. Our appointment is testament not only to the high quality and range of legal services we deliver at Geldards, but also to our commitment to client care and overall value for money. We look forward to continuing to support Finance Wales with the successes of its portfolio companies, building on the relationships we have developed since first being appointed to the Finance Wales Group legal panel back in 2009.”

Neil Maguinness, Director of Risk, Compliance and Legal for the Finance Wales Group, said, “We’re pleased to be working with Geldards again following a competitive tender process. They have provided a diligent and professional service for us.”

The legal panel will run for three years with the option to extend for another year.
