Bridgnorth business secures exclusive contract

Two women who run a county bespoke wedding supply company were celebrating today after winning an exclusive contract to sell their handmade jewellery and tiaras at a county shop.

Sarah Knowles and Fran Robinson of Big Little Things said they had seen their business boom since they exhibited at the National Wedding Show last year and now had their products on show at My Little Wedding Shop in Bridgnorth.

The pair said they had been left overwhelmed with the boom in business over the last six months which had resulted in their handmade bridal accessories being used in photo shoots across the UK and also saw the business partners appear on Wedding TV.

Mrs Knowles, from Lightmoor, Telford, said it had been a “rollercoaster” which included dozens of meetings with brides and grooms since the start of the year and many hours travelling across the country but the hard work was paying off.

“We were overwhelmed when Jenny agreed to showcase our products which will complement her dresses perfectly.

“Everything we make are complete one-offs so there is no risk of another bride wearing it in the whole of the country but what makes this partnership extra special is that we will be making our products exclusively to match Jenny’s dresses so the bride will choose the most special dress of her life and we will make the accessories to match,” the mother-of-two said.

“We are finding people contacting us to commission Big Little Things to do one job for the wedding but they are leaving us with a package which has saved them hours of their precious time and several hundred pound because we are a one stop shop for everything, favours, flowers, the cake, jewellery – I think the only thing we don’t do is make the dresses so we’ll be leaving that one to Jenny.”

Mrs Robinson, who runs the Shrewsbury branch of the business added: “After winning the national award for cake decorating last year, we have seen the number of orders really increase.

“Brides are so much more passionate for bespoke and Shropshire-made products these days than a few years ago when it seemed to be the norm to buy off the peg or accessories off the high street which anyone else could have.

“I think people have realised buying local and bespoke designed products doesn’t have to be expensive but most importantly you know where it is made and you know it will be perfect.”

The women will be showcasing their products at a wedding fair at Walcot Hall, Lydbury North on April 28.
