Growing Leicester businesses move to Interchange

Inned England has completed two lettings at Interchange Leicester in Birstall, on behalf of developer Jelson.

The commercial property agent has let two 14,850 sq ft industrial units to expanding Leicester business NSA Electrical & Solar and international laser cutting business Microkerf.

NSA is a long-established Leicester-based company that specialises in the supply of photovoltaic solar panel systems. The business was one of the first occupiers at Interchange when it moved to a new 3,600 sq ft industrial unit. Within the space of two years, the company has grown to a level where it now taken the 14,850 sq ft unit 48.

Paul Ward of NSA says: “The move to much larger premises allows for further growth and will help us to continue to provide our customers with an efficient, professional service and high quality workmanship. The excellent facilities and good location offered meant that we were able to stay at Interchange.”

Since its formation in 1990, Microkerf has become one of Europe’s most diverse suppliers of laser processing and secondary contract services. Due to exponential growth, the business had occupied eight premises in Loughborough and at the Gorse Hill Industrial Estate in Leicester. The consolidation to one larger site will now bring the operation under one roof and allow for future expansion.

David Gattward of Microkerf says: “We use the latest gas and solid-state laser technology to give our clients a highly competitive advantage. As a hi-tech business we felt that Interchange offered an excellent fit in terms of security, private space and electrical supply.”

Peter Doleman of Innes England said: “These latest lettings illustrate that there is strong demand for new and well located industrial buildings. Whilst design and build options will increasingly be the norm in the current market, this activity shows that, if a developer has the confidence to build speculatively, there is still the opportunity to attract good quality tenants.

The new industrial space at Interchange is now fully let allowing for the next stage of development.

Stuart Wilson of developer Jelson said: “We will now push forward to complete industrial units 46 and 47 which offer 12,100 sq ft each. As we approach the completion of Phase One the success of the scheme has become clear, with Interchange now established as one of Leicester’s premier industrial and commercial locations.”

A short drive to Leicester city centre, Interchange Leicester is situated at the junction of the A6 and A46, allowing easy access to the M1. The units are part of Phase One of the 15 acre office and industrial development, which also offers design and build opportunities.
