Blue Marble Asset Management has recruited one of the West Midlands’ best known investment agents to spearhead the drive for new clients.

Edward (Ed) Jones joins the Birmingham office of Blue Marble Asset Management from Gerald Eve LLP where he was Consultant Head of Investment.  With nearly 20 years’ experience in senior investment agency positions at Lambert Smith Hampton, BNP Paribas and CBRE, as well as running his own investment business, Mr Jones becomes Investment Director at Blue Marble Asset Management.

He will work closely with Chief Executive Tim Matthews to identify and acquire new clients for whom Blue Marble Asset Management will asset manage commercial property portfolios.  Mr Jones will also advise on new opportunities for purchase and on disposals of assets, as part of the firm’s quest to maximise value and returns on commercial property investments.

Mr Matthews said: “Ed’s appointment is the next stage in Blue Marble’s growth strategy which started last September with the recruitment of Tim Suffield as a business development consultant.  I have worked with Ed on a number of transactions and have always been impressed by his abilities and contacts.  I am delighted to have the opportunity to work with him and look forward to us achieving great things for new and existing clients.”

Mr Jones said: “I am impressed by Blue Marble’s track record in generating significant growth in asset value and returns for their clients through a strategic combination of astute acquisitions and innovative asset management.  They have been ahead of the curve on opportunities, securing off market deals and moving into areas of the market months ahead of mainstream investors, ensuring better returns for their clients.  I am very much looking forward to working with Tim and his colleagues to further enhance this track record.”

Founded by Mr Matthews in 2011, with offices in Birmingham and Worcester, Blue Marble Asset Management presently has more than £60 million of property assets under management.  It works for a select range of clients including investment businesses, high net worth individuals, trusts and family offices.  Its business is based on understanding its clients’ investment requirements, their attitude to risk, their aspirations on returns and their long term goals and providing them with the optimum commercial property investment strategy.

Recent off market deals completed by Blue Marble include the purchase of 34,000 sq ft of prime industrial space in Blenheim Park, Nottingham, the purchase of offices at 57-63 Church Street in Birmingham City Centre, jointly with Antringham Developments, the acquisition of a fully let 35,000 sq ft industrial unit with four acres of development land on the Drum Industrial Estate, Chester-le-Street, the purchase of a 35,000 sq ft modern distribution facility in Stockton-on-Tees and the acquisition of a 27,000 sq ft unit at Langley Mill.
