Argus Fire wins contract in excess of £2m for London Wall Place

Stourbridge-based Argus Fire is to protect one of London’s most prestigious new commercial developments and its occupants.

The fire protection and detection specialist has secured a contract worth in excess of £2m with Brookfield Multiplex to design and install the sprinkler systems and water supplies for the £220m London Wall Place development in the City of London.

The landmark scheme, which comprises two office buildings of 12 and 16 storeys and their basements with a total floor space of 500,000 sq ft, is being developed by the London Wall Place Partnership, a joint venture 50 percent owned by Brookfield and 50 percent owned by Oxford Properties.

The development, for which Brookfield Multiplex is the Main Contractor, includes half an acre of new public gardens containing part of the Roman city wall and ancient remains of St Alphage church tower.

Argus Fire has already started work fitting out the 300,000 sq ft shell and core of 1 London Wall Place with 1,500 automatic water sprinkler heads connected to 56 zone valves, two multi-stage electric motor-driven fire pumps, two water sprinkler storage tanks, and two dry risers. The 12-storey building will achieve practical completion in Spring 2017 and world-leading asset management company Schroders plc will begin fitting it out in January 2017.

Argus Fire will also carry out a Cat ‘A’ fit out – of basic mechanical and electrical services – and install 200 window drenchers for 180,000 sq ft 2 London Wall Place, in addition to equipping the 16-storey building with 6,400 sprinkler heads, 65 zone valves, two fire pumps and two storage tanks. The company will also equip 2 London Wall Place with two multi-stage electric motor-driven wet riser pumps and two wet riser water storage tanks.

Matt Lincoln, Managing Director of Argus Fire, said: “We are delighted that our specialist skills and experience and excellent working relationship have resulted in our fifth national project for Brookfield Multiplex.”
