Office design and fit-out specialist, Paramount Interiors, has appointed Andrew Roberts to the position of Managing Director, with Nigel Roberts stepping up to the position of Executive Chairman.

Andrew Roberts, 33, joined Paramount’s Sales Team in 2007 as a Business Development Manager and during his time with the company, has been responsible for securing several large projects.  These have included the design and fit-out of KPMG’s offices in Southampton, London and Cardiff, Finance Wales’ new offices in Central Cardiff and the Gloworks building in Cardiff Bay, which was carried out on behalf of the Welsh Government.

Andrew succeeds his father, Nigel Roberts, 57, who founded the Cardiff based company in 1989 initially as an office furniture and equipment supplier.  Over the past 25 years, he has built Paramount into an award-winning, multi-million pound supplier of office design, fit-out and furniture working for some of the UK’s biggest brands.

In 2013, Paramount opened a new 7,500 square foot ShowOffice at the Paramount Business Park in St Mellons, on the outskirts of Cardiff.  In the same year it opened a second office in London as part of its strategy to further increase its share of the UK office design and fit-out market.

Nigel Roberts who, together with his wife Bridget retain full ownership of Paramount, is stepping back from his current role as Managing Director to become Executive Chairman.  He will hand over the day-to-day running of the company to his eldest son, Andrew, although he will still be involved in the overall strategic direction of Paramount.   In addition, he will focus on his role as Chairman of Cardiff Business Council, which plays a major role in the economic development of south-east Wales. Mr. Roberts is currently leading on the development of a new technology park and rail infrastructure scheme for the capital.  He is also Chairman of Run for Wales and was part of the bid team that won the staging of the 2016 World Half Marathon, one of the most prestigious global road race events that will take place in Cardiff on March 26th.

Andrew Roberts said, “Having worked at Paramount for the last 9 years and been a part of a fantastic team that has helped grow the company into what it is today, I am really looking forward to taking it to the next level.  We have an ambitious plan to further increase our share of the market both within Wales and also in other areas of the UK and I am very fortunate to be able to build on the twenty five years of hard work and success that my father has put into the business.

Nigel Roberts commented, “As an independent, family owned business, I am delighted to be able to hand over the reins to Andrew and to support him as he takes it forward.  The time that he has spent working within the company has provided him with an in-depth knowledge of the industry and he has been heavily involved in delivering major new business wins and helping to shape the future direction of the business.

“Together with the dedicated and talented team that we have at Paramount, I’m sure he will continue to deliver success for the company as well as maintaining our absolute commitment to delivering the highest quality service and the most effective workplace design solutions for our clients”.
