New director for Greenaway Scott

Business advisory firm Greenaway Scott has announced the appointment of a new corporate director.

Matthew Sutton, 31, from Rhiwbina, has joined the team to lead the corporate department alongside founder Nigel Greenaway.

Joining from Blake Morgan, Mr Sutton will focus on the continued development of the department and advising the firm’s corporate clients on mergers, acquisitions, management buy-ins and buy-outs and private equity investments.

Having worked in the legal sector for a decade, Mr Sutton brings a wealth of experience to the role.

Mr Sutton said: “I’m thrilled to join Greenaway Scott at such an exciting time for the company. The firm has always appealed to me due to the excellent reputation it has quickly developed in the marketplace.

“I have worked with Nigel and co-director Rhian Osborne in a previous company and we made a great team, so I’m confident that I will strengthen their current offering.

“It’s a great opportunity at a time of really strong growth for the firm. I feel that I’ll definitely be able to use my experience to help Greenaway Scott expand.

“I’m looking forward to working with existing clients, developing new business opportunities and being a part of Greenaway Scott’s overall strategy.”

Nigel Greenaway, director of Greenaway Scott, said: “Having worked with Matt previously we know he is a talented and hard-working professional who will be a huge asset to our team.

“We have ambitious growth plans to open new offices along the M4 corridor and replicating the business model from our Cardiff office with specialist corporate and dual qualified commercial teams in the future and we know Matt will be able to help us achieve this.”

Earlier this year, Greenaway Scott announced that it would be expanding into new offices at The Maltings in Cardiff due to increase demand for its services. As part of the expansion, Greenaway Scott will be looking to recruit an additional four employees and will have space in the new office for up to 40 members of staff.

Greenaway Scott provide corporate, commercial and intellectual property advice to companies, with particular sector specialisms in the life science, technology, pharmaceutical and IT sectors. The commercial team is made up of solicitors who are dual-qualified and have either a mathematics or science degree as well as legal qualifications to ensure all advisors have a strong understanding of their clients’ markets.

The firm focuses on the provision of sharp, practical, commercially focused legal advice to businesses and advises clients on spin-outs and commercialisation, brand and intellectual property protection, commercial contracts and trading agreements, mergers and acquisitions and equity investments.
