Grant Anderson and Lynette Day

International law firm Hill Dickinson is continuing its recruitment drive with the appointment of a specialist planning team.

Grant Anderson, formerly of Addleshaw Goddard, is heading up the new planning team in Manchester and brings with him associate, Lynette Day.  A senior planning and environmental lawyer, Grant has advised developers, landowners and public sector clients on a range of planning projects in areas including retail, housing, infrastructure and regeneration.

The announcement follows on from Hill Dickinson’s recent appointment of commercial property partner, Jim Purves, formerly of Pinsent Masons and the relocation of property partner Alastair Reid to the Manchester office from the firm’s Sheffield base. The property team in Manchester now stands at 22 strong.

The investment in the new planning team is the latest move from Hill Dickinson to build on its ambitious growth plans across its Business Services Group which continues to perform strongly.

Commenting on Grant’s arrival, Hill Dickinson’s Head of Business Services, David Chinn, said: “We have been biding our time to find an impressive planning lawyer for our team here in Manchester, someone with great contacts and track record, and we believe that we have found the right candidate in Grant.

“Grant is well-known and extremely well respected in his field, previously working as head of a retail planning group, advising clients such as Sainburys. He will be an invaluable asset to Hill Dickinson.”

Grant added: “My decision to move to Hill Dickinson was based on the firm’s reputation and its significant growth plans for the property team, which is evident in the number of lateral hires over the last 12 months. The firm has a strong sector-led approach, something that I am keen to further develop building upon my own experience in key sectors.”
