Iconic Peterborough Restaurant sold

Barker Storey Matthews Peterborough office has disposed of the freehold interest of 42 Broadway; the former location of ‘Imperial Bento’s’ Chinese restaurant, to a private landlord who intends to use the premises for a high class a la carte Indian restaurant called Ba Shoh.

The A3/A4 unit comprises 12,640 sq. ft. and includes planning consent for an additional 1,688 sq. ft. roof terrace. The property was formerly divided into two self-contained units, one housing the Imperial Bento’s restaurant and the second half leased to Fever Bar. The new owner intends to convert the conservatory formerly housing Fever to a shisha bar and to utilise the main interior for a 200 seat restaurant.

The restaurant is expected to be opening in late August/early September with refurbishment currently under way. The premises are ideally located within close proximity to Peterborough’s Queensgate shopping centre and are embedded within the main night-life area of Peterborough city centre. The property was on the market for offers in the region of £1,500,000.

Cam Park, Associate Director at Barker Storey Matthews commented, “42 Broadway is an ideal location for a large restaurant. Peterborough’s central restaurants and eateries have been bolstered with a series of new arrivals in the last year and Ba Shoh will make another great addition. Furthermore, the restaurant will benefit the area with additional job creation, an excellent piece of news following the subsequent loss of jobs after a series of venues closed within the area early this year.”
