Greenaway Scott has announced it has become a member firm of International Referral.

International Referral is a network of advisory firms and legal professionals with representative offices in 140 countries across the globe, and offices throughout the United States.

The Cardiff-based business advisory firm has been included as the exclusive partner in the life sciences sector within Wales due to its expertise within the sector.

Greenaway Scott often advises on corporate transactions nationally and internationally and, by joining the network, it will extend the reach and expertise available to the team at Greenaway Scott for future projects where it includes cross boarder advisor matters.

The exclusive network will also provide the firm with opportunities to build relationships and develop new business projects across the globe.

The IR model was established in 2010 as an alternative to the traditional international law firm model.

The international network is ranked by the independent guide Chambers and Partners as tier one for legal networks worldwide.

Other notable UK firms within the International Referral network include Mishcon de Reya and Ashfords.

Nigel Greenaway, director of Greenaway Scott, said: “We are thrilled to become part of International Referral, which is known within the legal sector as a prestigious and exclusive network. At Greenaway Scott, we often advise clients on corporate transactions internationally and it will be extremely beneficial for us to have access to a wider pool of knowledge and expertise on an international level.

“Due to our specialisms and experience in the life science, technology, pharmaceutical and IT sectors, we believe that other firms which are a part of International Referral will want to tap into our experience and knowledge. As a result, we feel our business will grow and we will be recognised internationally.”

International Referral has been designed to assist leading professional services firms with the growth of their business. The network’s ultimate goal is to bring like-minded individuals together and assist in building new relationships which are mutually beneficial. This includes the sharing of opportunities, joint marketing collaboration and referrals.

Greenaway Scott provide corporate, commercial and intellectual property advice to companies, with particular sector specialisms in the life science, technology, pharmaceutical and IT sectors. The commercial team is made up of solicitors who are dual-qualified and have either a mathematics or science degree as well as legal qualifications to ensure all advisors have a strong understanding of the firm’s clients’ markets.

The firm focuses on the provision of sharp, practical, commercially focused legal advice to businesses and advises clients on spin-outs and commercialisation, brand and intellectual property protection, mergers and acquisitions and equity investments.
