Regional construction company Beard, which has offices in Swindon, Oxford and Guildford, has acquired Langford Lodge at 109 Pembroke Road, Clifton, in central Bristol from Merrifield Holdings Ltd for £1.47 million. Property consultancy Carter Jonas acted on behalf of Beard in the acquisition of the building.
Langford Lodge, which was previously occupied by international management and construction consultants Gleeds, is a high quality period office building comprising two self-contained office spaces, totalling approximately 5,882 sq ft with 18 onsite car parking spaces. Situated within walking distance of Whiteladies Road, Clifton, it is in one of Bristol’s most prestigious office locations offering ease of access to Bristol city centre and the M4/M5 motorway network. There are two years remaining on an existing commercial lease at the property which will mean that Beard will house its staff in nearby offices until the property becomes available.
Beard chief executive Mark Beard said: “We are delighted with the acquisition of Langford Lodge which strengthens Beard’s operational presence in the South West. We’ve been looking for high quality business premises in Bristol for some time, and this building’s convenient location will make us easily accessible for both our staff and our customers.”

Beard, which has an annual million turnover of £88 million, and last year won the PWC West of England Business of the Year Award, is currently carrying out a £5.3 million conversion of Norfolk House – the former HM Revenue and Customs tax office in Water Lane, Bristol – into high-specification student accommodation.
