Winnersh Triangle wins commercial property deal of the year at Thames Valley Property Awards

Winnersh Triangle business park, near Reading, has been lauded for securing one of the biggest deals in the region in recent years by winning Commercial Property Deal of the Year at the Thames Valley Property Awards 2015.

The business park was hailed at the prize-giving ceremony on Thursday May 14th for a multi-million-pound pre-let construction of a 70,000-square foot purpose-built centre of excellence for blue chip aerospace and defence organisation Rockwell Collins.

The centre will meet Rockwell Collins’ existing operational needs while allowing sufficient space for long-term and strategic business growth. It represents an investment of $34 million over the next 15 years in facility-related costs alone.

When completed later this year, the three-storey Building 730 will provide 40,000 square feet of laboratory facilities with research and development space, plus 30,000 square feet of offices.

The award is another milestone for Winnersh Triangle which was acquired in July 2013 with funds managed by Oaktree Capital Management LP and real estate investor PATRIZIA UK Ltd.

Will Lawrie, PATRIZIA asset manager, said: “Winning Commercial Property Deal of the Year is fantastic recognition for the prestigious scale and quality of the Rockwell Collins deal, which was a local landmark agreement.

“It shows how our ambitious focus on top class facilities and accommodation has drawn blue chip tenants. We aim to repeat this success and bring even more investment, jobs and trade into the Thames Valley.”

Winnnersh Triangle has flourished since 2013 not only with the Rockwell Collins deal but also long term investment such as construction starting on a multi-million-pound project to create 60,000 sq ft of office space at Building 1030, ready for use in early 2016.

There are now more than 60 diverse companies employing 3,000 people on site, including Jacobs (UK) Ltd, Virgin Media, BMC Software, Microchip, Grant Thornton, Lloyds Bank, WH Smith and Bang & Olufsen (UK) Ltd.
