Mazars acts on two major deals

The transaction services team at the Birmingham office of international accountancy firm Mazars has recently acted on two major deals.

Headed by David Preston, the team advised GIL Investments on its purchase of the Coventry-based Ashworth business of Saint-Gobain and also acted on the acquisition of Landmark Systems by French software company Isagri.

Mr Preston said: “There is a great deal of commercial sense about these transactions for both of our clients.  Market indicators appear strong for the sectors served by Ashworth, while Isagri extends its global reach with a new UK presence.

“They are representative of a significant increase in deal activity in recent months. We continue to see opportunities, both domestic and international, and we are involved in a number of similar transactions which are expected to complete over the next month or two.”

Ashworth, which has a 135-strong workforce and annual turnover of £32m, distributes pipes, valves and fittings to the mechanical services and process industries from a network of UK branches, including Wednesfield.

Landmark Systems is a Sussex-based rural business software specialist with significant market share in the UK – Isagri specialises in farming and rural business management software, operates in 12 countries with 115,000 users and has 1,400 employees worldwide.

Mazars Transaction Services’ expertise includes due diligence and various pre and post deal support.
