JLL completes City Gate West letting to Arup

Acting for clients of F&C Reit, JLL has let 10,500 sq. ft. at the soon to be refurbished City Gate West to global engineering and planning consultancy, Arup.

Arup is to move from The Frontage into City Gate West, allowing them to grow strategically while retaining their prime city centre location.

City Gate West is a highly prominent landmark office building, positioned on one of the main gateways to the city centre, at the top of Maid Marian Way. City Gate West is currently being fully refurbished by clients of F&C Reit to create modern open plan office space. The refurbishment will include a new front reception, improvements to common areas and w/c’s to deliver some of the highest quality office space currently available in the city.

Robin Lee, director at Arup comments “The new location fulfils our desire to stay in the heart of Nottingham, where we are in walking distance of the station, tram, Market Square and some of our key collaborators and clients. We will have a state-of–the-art office space that will utilise the latest thinking about working environments and draw upon our own experiences from the successful move and redevelopment of our office in Manchester.”

James Keeton, associate director at JLL, who was successful in securing the letting said: “In a city where vacant high quality space is a scarcity, we continually have to look at ways to meet occupier demand. Clients of F&C Reit committed to a high quality refurbishment of City Gate West and raised the bar on the standard of accommodation delivered to date at City Gate East. This has been rewarded through the letting to Arup.

James continues “Like Arup, we expect the remaining vacant space to be taken by an existing occupier in the City or possibly a business looking for an East Midlands presence. Clearly the team at JLL will be using its regional, UK wide and global presence in the real estate market to seek out possible occupiers.”

Simon McIntosh of F&C Reit added “We are very pleased to welcome Arup to Citygate West. Its great news for the building and the City. It does further illustrate the trend for occupiers to relocate into newly refurbished Grade A offices.”

Following the letting to Arup, alongside IBM, there is now only one single floor plate of 19,000 sqft remaining and immediately available at City Gate West. Joint agents are Geo Hallam.
