As 500 engineers, graduates, senior managers prepare to meet at the IMechE Midlands Dinner, event sponsor, engineering recruitment specialist, Jonathan Lee Recruitment says the region has much to celebrate.
“The Midlands really is a vibrant and growing hub for innovative engineering so it is important we celebrate the companies and individuals that are responsible for the sector’s flourishing success,” explains Chairman Jonathan Lee.
“The IMechE Midland Dinner is a landmark event in the region’s engineering scene, providing an opportunity to reflect on and celebrate the sector’s achievements on both the UK and the global stage. With significant investment in training and skills happening in companies both large and small, businesses in the region are establishing a solid foundation from which to build and compete on the world stage.

Since 2004 the event has grown in profile and prestige and is now considered the premier engineering gathering in the Midlands, providing a platform for engineers to be seen and heard.
The event, that takes place on the 13th March 2015 at the ICC, promises to be a great evening. Attendees are from all areas of the engineering community and represent major businesses from across the Midlands. Key Midlands figure and Keynote Speaker for the evening Mark Garrett, Chief Operating Officer of Ricardo plc, will be opening the event while after dinner speaker John Simonett promises to humour, energise and inspire the audience.
The evening’s format is one of a business-style networking event, run by engineers for engineers and the business community. The overall aim of the dinner is to raise the profile of the engineering profession, and to ensure that the region is aware of the vital economic contribution made by the engineering community. Money will also be raised throughout the evening for The Birmingham Children’s Hospital “Let us Play” appeal.
The function is a joint event organised by local committee members from the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE). The two Institutions have a combined total membership of 200,000 worldwide and some 20,000 across the Midlands. Their members work in all sectors of science, engineering and technology.
