J S Wright appoints new business development manager

Birmingham-based mechanical services provider J S Wright has boosted its Midlands and national expansion plans with the appointment of its first business development manager.

Anthony Watson, from Stone in Staffordshire, has almost 20 years’ experience in providing asset management and engineering solutions for UK-leading organisations across a wide range of sectors.

Based at its head office in Aston, Anthony will be seeking to grow J S Wright’s successful design and build business across its traditional Midlands core region and develop opportunities in different sectors including power and energy, as well as help the company to expand nationally.

Anthony was previously technical director and before that project services director for a global engineering company, where he provided innovation and development strategy, technical services, and asset and facilities management for the water, highways, airports, power and rail sectors.

He was also a Building Information Modelling (BIM) Champion for the water sector, and implemented and communicated the internationally recognised BS ISO55000:2014 standard for total asset management.

Prior to that Anthony was portfolio manager for an industrial support services firm in Atherstone, where he successfully built up the company’s market share in the UK power and nuclear sector by securing new business with blue-chip companies.

Marcus Aniol, Managing Director of J S Wright, said:  “Anthony is the perfect fit to help take us forward into different sectors and bring more business to our Midlands roots. His experience will also enable us to build on our growth areas in the South East and South West and become a truly national company.”

Anthony Watson commented: “I am delighted to have joined such a dynamic company at this exciting stage in its development and I am looking forward to using my knowledge, experience and people skills to play a major role in J S Wright’s ongoing success.”

Anthony graduated from Staffordshire University with a BSc(Hons) Degree in Building Surveying and studied for a Master of Business Administration (MBA) at the University of Newcastle. He enjoys rugby, technology and photography in his spare time and is a committee member of Stoke on Trent Rugby Football Club.

J S Wright, which is celebrating the 125th anniversary of its foundation in Birmingham, launched a London office four years ago and a Bristol office earlier this year. Sales are expected to reach a record-breaking £35 million for the current financial year and the company recently gained its biggest-ever contract worth more than £18 million to fit out more than 400 new homes in Canary Wharf, London.

The company currently specialises in the design and installation of mechanical services for the hotel, residential, social housing, student accommodation, leisure and commercial sectors.
