BDO sees return of Sydney secondee

Accountancy and business advisory firm BDO LLP in Nottingham welcomes back John Todhunter following an “incredible experience” on secondment in Sydney.

John, who became ACCA qualified in summer 2014, re-joins the audit team in Nottingham after a four month secondment at BDO’s Sydney office where he worked with a 90-strong team of audit professionals.

During his time in Australia, John focused on statutory audits of companies operating across a range of sectors including manufacturing, publishing and not-for-profit.

John said: “My time in Sydney was an incredible experience. Working in the heart of the biggest city in Australia gave me real insight into the differences in culture and doing business in international markets.

“There are some strong similarities and I hope to be able to share my experiences and learnings with my colleagues and clients here in the UK.”

In addition to John’s return, the audit team has also appointed Cindy Hrkalovic as a senior manager. She joins from Deloitte in Nottingham. Cindy has 12 years’ experience in audit, having advised clients in both the private and public sector, and on financial reporting matters for listed companies and international groups.

Gareth Singleton, audit partner and head of BDO LLP in the East Midlands, said: “Investing in talent – whether that be through recruitment or international secondments – is really important to BDO.  The diversity of experiences that John and Cindy will bring to the team will enhance our services, adding expertise and value to an already exceptional team.”

BDO’s international network spans 151 countries. The firm employs more than 60,000 people working out of 1,350 offices worldwide.
