Bristol UWE graduate lands local role with St. Modwen at regional HQ in Avonmouth

Matthew Bean, who is completing his degree conversion course at Bristol’s University of West England (UWE), has been appointed as a graduate trainee surveyor, by UK regeneration specialist, St. Modwen.  Based at the St. Modwen regional head office in Avonmouth, Matthew will work on flagship developments across the South West of England and South Wales.

Having completed a sandwich placement with St. Modwen in 2013, Matthew has now been offered a permanent role within the company.  Working across the South West and South Wales in his first 12 months, Matthew will be fully involved across flagship projects including the £400m Locking Parklands development in Weston-super-Mare; the £150m site at Littlecombe in Gloucestershire and the £210m Skypark scheme in Exeter.

Commenting on this appointment, Rupert Joseland, South West and South Wales regional director for St. Modwen said:
“We are fully committed to taking on bright new talent and channelling skills into appropriate areas of our business. Our graduate trainee programme will ensure that Matthew gets plenty of hands on experience across the full spectrum of competencies including planning, development, property management, and land valuation. Towards the end of his traineeship, he will have the choice to specialise in more specific areas of the development industry with us here at St. Modwen”

Matthew added: “Having enjoyed my placement with St. Modwen, I am pleased and proud to have been offered the opportunity to now come back as the company’s first graduate trainee.  The South West holds a special place in my heart thanks to my time at Bristol UWE and I’m looking forward to cutting my teeth on some of St. Modwen’s flagship projects here.”

The graduate programme is designed to complement Matthew’s degree in Real Estate Management. By the end of the programme, Matthew should gain his Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) certificate and receive his RICS status in Commercial Property Practice.
