Loughborough is the right fit for new shoe shop

Mather Jamie has secured a brand new independent footwear retailer in a popular shopping area of Loughborough.

Loafers Shoes, located at 57 Church Gate, has been set up by Beth Pollard, a former Business Development Manager for a well-known estate agent.

Alex Reid of Mather Jamie comments: “It is encouraging to see a new business opening its doors in Loughborough and we are pleased to welcome Loafers Shoes as the new tenant.”

“Church Gate is a pedestrian street that lies within the town centre conservation area, a popular shopping destination within Loughborough due to its high number of independent shops.”

Beth comments: “The idea for started when my partner and I were struggling to find shoes for his little boy and noticing the unit on Church Gate was vacant, we realised there was an opportunity to fill a gap in the market and open a shop ourselves in order to bring high quality brands, such as Dr Martens, EMU, Kickers and many more to Loughborough.

“We opened the shop purely to sell children’s shoes to parents by parents, however, due to the interest and demand we have now added ladies and men’s ranges.

“Our men’s range in particular has done really well, offering a selection of exclusive designs for both smart and casual occasions, enhancing what Loughborough already has to offer.

“As a location, Church Gate is ideal for us because it is a popular shopping destination, it has the boutique feel we want for the shop and it sits well alongside the independent retailers that are already well-established here.

“However, some people can be put off as they think the products these shops are offering will be expensive, we want to change this perception and encourage everyone to come and have a look.

“Our long-term aim is to raise the profile of Loughborough and work alongside our neighbours to organise special events throughout the year.”
