Seddon appoints Regional Director for Midlands

Builder and developer Seddon has appointed Eamonn Burns as a Regional Director for the Midlands to aid the company’s expansion in the region.

Seddon, which has offices in both Stoke-on-Trent and Birmingham, hopes to boost its turnover in the region to £100 million over the next five years, with Eamonn heading up the team across two offices.

Eamonn will work alongside ‎Regional Manager Ian Calder, who was appointed by Seddon to head up new build housing and refurbishment in the Midlands in 2012.

In his former role as Operations Director at Wilmott Dixon, Eamonn was responsible for the growth of the company’s Birmingham Housing Unit into a business with a turnover of more than £55 million.

Eamonn’s appointment comes shortly after the company was named on a £875 million Education Funding Agency (EFA) framework to build and refurbish schools in the West Midlands, which will allow Seddon to bid for projects worth up to £10 million over the next four years.

Jonathan Seddon, Chief Executive Officer of Seddon, said: “We have seen steady growth in the Midlands over the past three years, with the help of Eamonn we hope to be able to replicate our success in the North West and firmly establish our reputation for high-quality education, commercial and housing projects in the region.”

The company’s appointment to the Education Funding Agency’s (EFA) West Midlands framework follows the successful completion of a number of school projects in the region, including the construction of three new schools as part of Staffordshire County Council’s plans to create an extra 1,000 school places in Burton-on-Trent over the next decade.

Eamonn said: “I am delighted to be joining Seddon at such an exciting time and look forward to working with the Seddon family, the directors and the regional team as we continue to develop the business in the Midlands.

“The company is in a superb position to continue to grow in a resurgent market, as we draw on the company’s strengths in direct employment, training and apprenticeships, bolstered by a strong pipeline and with extensive framework presence.”

Jonathan Seddon added: “Eamonn has an excellent reputation and impressive track record of working with customers in the public and private sectors across the region.

“I’m delighted to have attracted someone of his calibre to join us and drive our Midlands business forward in a key and exciting time for the company.”
