Skills and talent kick off new Grant Thornton initiative

UK businesses continue to cite the skills shortage and retention of talent as major barriers to economic recovery, business growth and sustainability.

Business and financial advisers Grant Thornton UK LLP is driving the creation of initiatives to inform and support East Midlands businesses to best tackle these challenges, with a programme of technical update and strategic events.

The Grant Thornton ‘FD Club’ launches on 9th October at the firm’s Leicester offices with a breakfast session focusing on ‘Skills and Leadership’.

The event will include insights from leading technical experts on how to hire the best new talent and inspire the leaders of the future, and a keynote presentation from a local business on the benefits of apprenticeship programmes and how they can help with addressing the skills shortage.

“Talent is the lifeblood of a business and organisations need to attract and retain the necessary talent to achieve their growth ambitions,” comments Chris Frostwick, Partner and Practice Leader, Grant Thornton UK LLP in Leicester.

“Businesses need a forum in which they can learn the latest strategic thinking on how to manage their talent development processes to retain talent at all levels throughout the business, whether via apprenticeship schemes for new entrants to the business, or equity reward schemes, personal tax for leaders, or NED remuneration.”
