Double appointment at Chamber

An expanding business support organisation in Dorset has stepped up its services with a double appointment.

Dorset Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI)  – the voice of business in the county – has recruited Vikki Southern and Melissa Jones as it continues to grow and modernise.

Vikki is the new events co-ordinator and Melissa Jones has joined as a membership sales advisor.

They bring the total staff number of staff to 18 and come hot on the heels of Anne Warner’s appointment as membership services manager.

Chamber chief executive Ian Girling said: “Vikki and Melissa will play important roles in developing our operations and providing a first class service.

“They are high calibre appointments who bring fresh ideas, expertise, experience and professionalism.

“We already have a great team here and their appointments further strengthen the Chamber as we move forward.”

The appointments come as the Chamber, which represents companies employing 37,000 people across Dorset, develops its services and support for businesses. It has nearly 700 members.

Vikki graduated with a degree in events management from Bournemouth University and joins from Blandford-based SureFire Event Management where she organised European and international conferences.

She said: “I am looking forward to developing the chamber’s programme of events and introducing new networking opportunities across the county as well as meeting all of the members over the coming months.”

Vikki added:  “I have joined the chamber at an exciting time and I aim to play my part in its continued success.”

Membership sales advisor Melissa has a range of experience, including positions with Thomson and First Choice owner TUI.

She said: “I want to make sure that our members take full advantage of the benefits of their membership to help them grow their businesses, raise their profile and save money.

“I hope to see many more businesses join the Chamber and for existing members to see even greater value in their membership.”

Members can sign up to 90 courses and events each year but also take advantage business support, and development opportunities.

Other advantages include international trade services, training, promotion and member referrals, offers and benefits.
