Edmond Shipway raise £20,000 for charity

Four intrepid adventurers from Nottingham-based construction consultancy Edmond Shipway have steered their way to victory following an unusual charity challenge.

They’ve raised more than £20,000 after completing a 500-mile bike ride linking all the UK Center Parcs Villages – finishing the gruelling trial in just five days.

Daman Ranby, Jamie Crouch, John Chatterton and Scott Green spent months training for the adventure, beginning their route at the Center Parcs Village in Longleat Forest, Wiltshire, heading off for Woburn Forest in Bedfordshire, Elveden Forest in Suffolk, Sherwood Forest in Nottinghamshire and finally, Whinfell Forest in Cumbria.

The team has just handed over a cheque for £20,607.50 to Center Parcs’ charity partners, The Wildlife Trusts and the NSPCC’s ChildLine Schools Service.

Amongst their sponsors were Center Parcs and Edmond Shipway, as well as three leading players in the construction industry, ISG, Balfour Beatty and Bowmer & Kirkland.

The team at Edmond Shipway was inspired to do the charity bike-ride by a group of directors at Center Parcs who last year completed a charity cycle ride from the company’s head office in Nottinghamshire to Woburn Forest in Bedfordshire – a distance of over 125 miles – to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.

The two companies have close ties as Edmond Shipway has recently project managed the building of Center Parcs’ newest Village, Woburn Forest in Bedfordshire.

Daman Ranby, one quarter of the ambitious team and director at Edmond Shipway, said: “It’s been a tough challenge but we’re so pleased we were able to complete the course – and it has been a brilliant team building exercise. It’s great that we’ve managed to raise so much for two fantastic charities.”

A multi-disciplinary construction consultancy dealing with over £750 million construction activity per annum, Edmond Shipway offers an extensive array of services from its roots as a cost consultancy provider, to project management and its role as a mechanical & electrical and sustainability consultancy.
