Blusource hails professional services recovery as turnover soars

Blusource, the Nottingham-headquarted supplier of strategic recruitment and advisory solutions to the professional services, is hailing an upturn in the professional services sector after releasing its summary for the first half of 2014.

Turnover at the business, which places accountants and lawyers in to many of the East Midlands’ leading firms, is up an impressive 75 per cent from the same period last year, and  25 per cent from the second half of last year – when the economic recovery took off.

Blusource says this stellar performance is testament to its belief that firms are extremely busy in their own practices and have had the confidence to increase staffing levels as the sector in the region continues to prosper.

Andrew Springhall, chief executive said: “It has been a long time coming, but Nottingham has at last woken up and is now attempting to play catch up to be the leading city for the East Midlands once again.

“The last six years have been tough for Nottingham, which has seen its two neighbours both open new shopping centres, their out of town business parks thrive and their football teams taste life in the Premier League. But Nottingham’s renaissance is well under way, in parallel to the new tram lines and A453 widening, and Nottingham professional firms have been taking on new staff at a slightly higher rate than their neighbours.”

Andrew says that over recent years Blusource has seen a number of accountants and law firms merge or be taken over. He adds: “It’s no surprise that these firms are now fully open for business again and growing at an impressive rate.

Nottingham, with its universities and Law School having a great reputation, will always be competing hard to retain its talent and young professionals do still choose the city as their career home!”

One firm that Blusource is working closely with is Baker Tilly, which has an office in the heart of Nottingham’s professional services quarter. Simon Hart, Baker Tilly’s Regional Managing Partner for the Midlands, said: “Like most professional services firms, we’ve started to see a great deal of optimism in the market as the economy moves towards recovery, especially in the cities. Clients are starting to take advantage of the returning confidence in the economy, and beginning to look for opportunities to expand – particularly in the M&A market.”

Blusource’s Accountancy division has recently been rolled out nationwide, and the firm is set to open its first London office in early 2015.
