Visit underlines Welsh Government support for business

Business and Enterprise Minister Edwina Hart visited Deeside last week to underline the Welsh Government’s continued commitment and support for business growth and training opportunities across Wales.

Mrs Hart was visiting Airbus and DRB – two highly successful companies that make a vitally important contribution to the Welsh economy – with Carl Sargeant AM. Both companies work in key sectors of the economy and have benefited from funding from the Welsh Government to support expansion projects and skills development.

Mrs Hart said both companies continued to win new contracts and business despite difficult trading conditions.

“The Welsh Government is committed to supporting the growth of companies in Wales and the success of these companies illustrates the importance of working closely with businesses in key sectors, understanding their needs and providing the relevant support.

“Airbus, one of our anchor companies, plays a vital role in the Welsh economy creating and sustaining thousands of skilled jobs and the Welsh Government supports its continuing development and success in attracting new business to Wales.

“I should also like to congratulate the DRB Group, one of the largest mechanical engineering firms in North Wales, on the significant contract it has been awarded in association with the Gwynt y Môr offshore wind farm project.

“The Welsh Government supports its continued success in opening new markets and supporting continued growth.”

The Minister also welcomed the commitment by Airbus and DRB to support apprenticeships and provide opportunities for young people to gain valuable skills across a range of disciplines.
