New business is just the job for Gwent entrepreneur

The sky is the limit for Gwent serial entrepreneur Ross Porter who has returned to his roots to establish a new recruitment business in his home town.

Ross, who first made his name as a successful businessman with Draig Personnel has this month (April) launched Clear Sky Recruitment.

Ross says his new venture, based in Blackwood town centre, will initially service the south Wales business community.

However his long term aim is to extend his specialised services, which range from contact centres to the pharmaceutical industry, throughout Wales, into a multi branch agency across the Severn to Bristol and down the M4 Corridor to London.

Ross began his career in the recruitment sector in 1998 when he started work as a recruitment consultant. A year later he sold all of his personal possessions and used what little savings he had to raise the funds to start Draig Personnel.

Ross grew Draig Personnel in to a recognised name in the recruitment sector which, at its peak, had six branches. Ross sold the business in 2011 for an undisclosed sum to Newport, South Wales based Acorn Recruitment.

From its headquarters in Blackwood town centre, Ross says Clear Sky Recruitment, which has created four new jobs, can effectively recruit for both permanent and contract staff for businesses throughout south Wales and beyond.

“The days of having to have a city centre presence are in my opinion past. The internet has changed the way in which all businesses, including those in recruitment, operate. Despite having only been open a matter of days, we are already recruiting for vacancies in Bristol and Wrexham for example.

Ross, a former Gwent Young Entrepreneur of the Year, said: “I am very pleased to be back in the recruitment industry and at the helm of my own business Clear Sky Recruitment. I look forward to the challenge of once again developing a successful business.

“My motivation this time around is a little different. My wife, Claire, and I are both focused on building the business over the next twenty years or so with the hope that our children will one day be running operations. Clear Sky Recruitment is a family business which will be built upon a solid foundation of honesty, integrity and good old fashioned customer service.”

The business aims to place some 200 people in jobs in its first year of operation
