Shoosmiths’ commercial team boosted by new appointment

Shoosmiths has appointed commercial and outsourcing specialist Fiona Teague to its national commercial team, to be based in the firm’s Birmingham office.

Fiona trained and worked in London for 10 years with international firms, Simmons & Simmons and Baker & McKenzie.

She joins from Keely’s LLP, where she helped grow its commercial contracts practice, providing specialist advice to a range of clients, from blue chip companies to local businesses in a variety of sectors including IT, food, transport, manufacturing, automotive, chemicals and logistics.

Shoosmiths’ growing commercial team has celebrated a number of recent client wins, including Iron Mountain, British Gas and Dudley MBC.

The team has also been enjoying significant new mandates from existing clients including Hewlett Packard, Amazon and Thomas Cook. This success has contributed to Shoosmiths being named a Top 10 Law Firm for Commercial Law, taking into account the number of FTSE 100 Plc clients for whom it acts.

Birmingham partner and head of the national commercial team David Jackson said: “We’ve managed to establish a particularly talented and innovative commercial team as a result of an ongoing and carefully planned recruitment drive, both locally and nationally.

“We now have one of the largest dedicated commercial, technology & outsourcing practices in the country and also locally in Birmingham.

“We’ve gained a strong reputation amongst our impressive client list for providing best value expert advice and this is reflected in the higher value transactions that our clients are coming to us with. Having Fiona on board with her experience and commercial ability will further enhance our offering, and we’re delighted she’s taken the decision to join us.”

Birmingham commercial & technology specialist Joe Stephenson, who joined Shoosmiths as a trainee in 2005, is promoted to associate.
