Major contract sparks bright new year for Manchester home tech firm

A contract, valued at nearly £500,000, to provide a fully integrated smart home solution on a new 30,000 sq. ft residential property for a private client is paving the way to a positive start to 2014 for Finite Solutions. The Salford Quays based home automation specialist has also announced a healthy forward order book and a projected growth in turnover by 15% to £2 million in 2014.

Recessionary conditions and ‘cut backs’ in home improvements are contrary to the experience of the team at Finite. Director Simon Mathieson explains,

“Whilst there is a definite change in the market, we have maintained a strong focus on solutions that deliver ‘state of the art’ entertainment but also security and energy efficiency. Certainly we operate in a high end market but when a client is investing in complete home automation technology, they want expert installers that will add value. We have been able to assist clients with integrated solutions that can easily control audio-visual, lighting and security systems whilst also facilitating considerable energy savings all of which can be monitored around the world via mobile or tablet.”

Finite Solutions was first established by three former university students often living on just £3.00 a week. The company turned over £70,000 in its first year but went on to double its turnover year on year for the first 5 years with no outside investment. It now operates from offices in Cheshire, Yorkshire and London but competes on an international scale as one of the UK’s largest and most successful custom installation companies.

In the first quarter of 2014 Finite Solutions celebrates its 10th anniversary with plans to launch a separate lighting retail and design business following unprecedented demand for energy efficient, architectural lighting solutions for residential and commercial clients. The business is also increasing its presence on the contract market working with architects and designers and is proactively promoting its expertise through high street retail presence. It has successfully partnered with Bo Concept to enhance its showroom at Hart-Woods showroom in Bowden, Cheshire, Redbrick Mill in Yorkshire, and Clive Christian in London.

Mathieson concludes, “Showcasing what we can do is absolutely essential to securing clients and we are investing significantly back into the business to overhaul our award winning Show House. It’s a place where we can seriously impress our clients and incorporates the very latest in whole house smart technology and energy efficient lighting. 2014 is going to be a very exciting year for Finite Solutions and our biggest contract to date, re-launching our Show House and celebrating our 10th anniversary is a great start.”
