Tenants found for Grade A space at Cumberland House

Acting on behalf of the freeholder, CBRE and BNP Paribas have let the third floor of the refurbished Cumberland House. South Coast solicitors, Coffin Mew have taken the space as they relocate from their existing offices in Kings Park House. Neilson Property Consultants acted for Coffin Mew.

Cumberland House is located in Southampton’s premier business location overlooking Isaac Watts Park and the Civic Offices, close to the central railway station and amenities in London Road, Bedford Place and Above Bar. Coffin Mew joins other major office occupiers in the vicinity including Thomas Eggar, Paris Smith and Deloitte

The freeholders have carried out a comprehensive refurbishment of the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th floors. As well as the office space, the refurbishment included a complete refit of the ground floor reception, lifts to all floors and external elevations. The 4th and 5th have been let to Lucite and following Coffin Mew’s acquisition of the 3rd floor, only 6,427 sq ft of refurbished space remains on the 2nd floor. CBRE and BNP Paribas have also just been instructed to commence the marketing of the ground (3814 sq ft) and first floor (6,441 sq ft). This space has just been vacated and will require a comprehensive refurbishment. This is the ideal opportunity for a tenant who requires a particular level of fit out to influence the works.

CBRE Agency Associate Director, Emma Lockey commented:
“Coffin Mew was looking to relocate to open plan offices and Cumberland House offered them high quality space in a prime location with the important single floorplate they were looking for.

Miles Brown, Managing Partner at Coffin Mew added
“This is a very exciting time for everyone connected to Coffin Mew. Relocating to Cumberland House is an important step in our plans, with the new office providing the space and facilities to service our clients and support our future growth strategy”.

BNP Paribas, Surveyor, Nella Pang commented
“This letting reinforces the sentiment that businesses are looking to upgrade on existing accommodation and are looking for Grade A space.”
