HelpHarryHelpOthers announced as Baldwins Accountants’ first official charity partner

HelpHarryHelpOthers is the first official charity partner of one of the region’s largest independent accountancy firms to coincide with a major £300,000 initiative to help young entrepreneurs launch their own business.

The Birmingham-based charity was set-up by Harry Moseley while battling an inoperable brain cancer to help find a cure for brain cancer and help children and their families who are affected by all forms of cancer, along with the people who support them.

His mum, Georgie, who is founder and chairman of HelpHarryHelpOthers, is among those continuing her 11-year-old son’s inspiring work and HelpHarryHelpOthers will benefit from a continuing partnership with Baldwins accountants – starting by receiving the profits from its gala dinner to announce the inaugural winner of Baldwins Kick Start 2013 at Villa Park on November 21.

The firm will give away £300,000 over the next decade to 30 aspiring young entrepreneurs aged between 18-25 across the Midlands, including a grant of £10,000 along with £10,000 worth of mentoring and accountancy advice to the winner while two runners -up will receive £5,000 of mentoring and accountancy advice.

Georgie said the ethos of the Baldwins Kick Start programme fitted in perfectly with the ambitions of HelpHarryHelpOthers – to provide encouragement and support to young people.

“One of the great factors about the Kick Start competition is that it is about inspiring young people to be entrepreneurs,” she said.

“Harry was a little entrepreneur – he wasn’t doing his fundraising for himself, it was for selfless reasons. He inspired others to follow their dreams.

“This is good in a business sense and there is great synergy between ourselves and Baldwins. Whilst our main focus is helping families through every step of their cancer journey, we give back through Harry’s workshops and school initiatives and we’re absolutely delighted to have such a charity partner.

“I have carried on Harry’s work to inspire young people to believe in themselves and connect them with their passions so that they realise they can achieve great things.

“The prize Baldwins is offering through Kick Start will give young people self-belief and a starting point to get their business off the ground. Everyone at Baldwins should be proud of what they are doing.”

David Baldwin, a partner at Baldwins accountants, which has offices throughout the Midlands, said this was the first time the company had formed an official link-up with a charity.

He said: “The work of everyone involved with HelpHarryHelpOthers is amazing and it fits in really well with everything that Kick Start wants to achieve with young entrepreneurs.

“There are many bright young people who have the gem of a great idea to set-up their own business but just need a helping hand to get started and that is what we aim to achieve over the next ten years.”
