Tickets snapped up for Chamber dinner

More than 200 tickets have been snapped up for the Sheffield Chamber annual President’s dinner later this month.

Guest speakers for the event at the Cutlers’ Hall on September 26 include Lord Wolfson, chief executive of retail giant the NEXT Group and Lord Bilimoria, founder and chairman of Cobra Beer.

The dinner is to celebrate Jon Stewart’s year as President of the Chamber. Elevation Recruitment, Sheffield College and British Land are the key sponsors for the event.

Deborah Green, Meadowhall asset manager at British Land said: “As co-owners of Meadowhall Shopping Centre we are delighted to be sponsoring the 2013 Sheffield Chamber’s Presidents Dinner.

“As a key retail destination in the region Meadowhall has played a central role in Sheffield’s changing business community for over 23 years, working with partners and supporters to enhance and promote the many economic and social benefits of this great city.”

Andrew Cropley, executive director for strategic planning and business development at The Sheffield College, added: “We play a crucial role, and have a long and proud history, underpinning the regional economy by providing the qualifications, training and skills that nurture our students and which enable businesses to grow.

“That is why we are delighted to support this event and Sheffield Chamber of Commerce, which does so much to promote commercial activity across the region. We are currently expanding our range of business products including apprenticeships, professional courses, and a free recruitment service, to provide more support to employers and ensure our students are even better prepared for their future.”

Greg Parkinson, joint managing director at Elevation Recruitment, said: “The Sheffield Chamber of Commerce plays an important role within the business community, helping numerous organisations to develop and grow.

“As a company with similar objectives, also working to support and respond to the changing business needs across our region, Elevation Recruitment is delighted to be sponsoring this event.”

The President’s dinner will celebrate Sheffield’s manufacturing sector built on a rich heritage and optimistic future, while also looking at the city’s economic prospects through the challenges faced in retail.

Tickets are £60 plus VAT per person for Chamber members and £70 plus VAT per person for non-members.

Some of the proceeds from the evening will go to the Chamber’s current charity of the Year, Sheffield Young Carers which provides support to 8-21 year olds who are caring for someone at home.
