Jones Lang LaSalle grows planning team

Jones Lang LaSalle has appointed Tamsin Cottle to the position of associate planning director in its Nottingham office.

Tamsin brings a wealth of experience to the team, having worked for both local authority and private sector clients, acting as planning consultant on major retail schemes for blue chip companies including Next, Co-op and Morrisons. She has also worked with some of the UK’s major housebuilders and will use her expertise to assist Jones Lang LaSalle with its growing residential land and development portfolio.

Although a new face in the Nottingham office, Tamsin is not new to the area. She has lived and worked in the East Midlands for 16 years, including a two-year period at Nottingham City Council. She also worked with Jones Lang LaSalle’s Midlands’ planning team before its merger with King Sturge.

Speaking of her return to the fold Tamsin said: “I was attracted to the role because of the wealth of opportunity Jones Lang LaSalle presents. I get to work with a team that has real market knowledge and the expertise and experience to bring forward more complex and challenging schemes. They understand that planning is increasingly being seen as a market driven activity. It’s not just about getting planning consent, it’s about viability and offering sound commercial advice on whether a scheme stacks up or not.”

Jones Lang LaSalle Midlands’ planning team has long been working in the East Midlands market but significant increases in workloads has prompted Tamsin’s appointment. As Nottingham’s lead director, Matthew Smith explains, Tamsin will certainly be hitting the ground running:

“The Nottingham office has gone from strength to strength since the Jones Lang LaSalle merger. We are bringing forward a number of key strategic sites within the region and are experiencing improved levels of demand from the house builders.

“Never has there been a more crucial time than now for renegotiating existing planning consents to help kick start stalled sites and make schemes once again viable for land owners. The government has recognised the need to stimulate development if they are to aid growth of the economy and we hope Tamsin will be able to work with all parties to unlock growth in the East Midlands too.

“Tamsin is clearly a very focussed and experienced planning professional and fits well with the Jones Lang LaSalle team. We couldn’t be more pleased to have her build the planning and development consultancy function in our Nottingham office”
