LSE purchases new centre for Global Sciences site

BNP Paribas Real Estate, on behalf of the London School of Economics (LSE), has purchased Cancer Research UK’s London Research Institute for c.£75m. This site once developed will be LSE’s Centre for Global Social Sciences.

The site at 44, 45 and 46 Lincoln’s Inn Fields had been earmarked for luxury residential development but it was ultimately outbid by LSE.

Paul Henwood of BNP Paribas Real Estate said: “The deal follows LSE’s purchase of the Land Registry Office building at 32 Lincolns’ Inn Fields for £37.5m in October 2010, also acquired by us. This means that LSE now has almost total ownership of the southern edge of Lincoln’s Inn Fields – future proofing itself for further expansion, if required.”
