Colliers’ riders rise to challenge of cross-channel charity trip

Charity cyclists from Colliers International’s Bristol office have raised in excess of £2,000 for Cancer Research UK and North West Children’s Support Group after completing a gruelling cycle ride from London to Paris.

Bristol office agent Richard Wright was part of the six-strong Bristol contingent in the Colliers national squad which completed the testing 230 mile course in just four days.

Richard said: “It was a real test of our endurance travelling along some very precarious terrain and even cycling during the night on the first day.

“By the time we had reached the Notre Dame, our final destination, we had already cycled nearly 230 miles. After a well-deserved break, we decided to continue pedalling our way up the Champs-Élysées, around the Arc de Triomphe and towards the Eiffel Tower, weaving in and out of the Paris rush hour traffic!”

The Colliers team set off from the company’s head office at Marylebone Lane and reached Newhaven the following day to take the ferry across the channel.

After a well-deserved rest in Dieppe the team set off on two more challenging days of cycling across Northern France to arrive in time for a celebration in Paris that evening.

Richard said: “We had set a target of raising £1,200 and ended up raising in excess of £2,000 for two very worthwhile national and local charities.”

The Bristol office squad was made up of Sarah Davidson, Katie Bapty, Chloe Spalding and Richard Wright, along with Nick Williams and Ben Jones who decided to cycle on a tandem for the entire journey!
