St Modwen secures sale of bespoke unit to footwear specialist at Quedgeley West

St. Modwen, the UK’s leading regeneration specialist, has signed an agreement with Gloucestershire based footwear specialist, Gardiner Bros & Co (Leathers) Ltd, to develop a custom built warehouse facility at Quedgeley West Business Park, located near Junction 12 of the M5 in Gloucestershire.

Gardiner Bros will take occupation of a 34,700 sq ft bespoke premises in spring 2014. The company, which distributes footwear and work wear to retail trade, will continue trading from its existing 30,000 sq ft headquarters at Quedgeley West, effectively doubling the size of its operations at the £42m business park.

To date, more than 320,000 sq ft of industrial and distribution space has been leased or sold at Quedgeley West Business Park and this latest agreement follows the announcement that long-standing Gloucestershire based firm Lister Petter will also be relocating to a purpose built facility at Quedgeley West Business Park in spring 2014.

Pete Davies, Development Manager for St. Modwen in the South West, commented: “Following our announcement last month on the relocation of engineering firm Lister Petter, securing this deal with Gardiner Bros is fantastic news for the area, with the two new buildings totalling 75,000 sq ft of space under construction this summer.

“We can also deliver a final 65,000 sq ft in two buildings for occupiers seeking quality new warehouse and production space, close to Junction 12 of the M5.”

James Gardiner, CEO of Gardiner Bros & Co (Leathers) Ltd, commented:
“We are delighted to have come to an agreement with St. Modwen to buy Unit M on the Quedgeley West Business Park. The new bespoke unit allows us to expand alongside our existing site and enables us to take advantage of new markets and opportunities. We are already in the process of taking on additional staff and this is set to continue with the new premises at Quedgeley on the horizon.”

Quedgeley West Business Park is one of four sites being developed by St. Modwen in Gloucestershire. The company is also developing Quedgeley East Business Park, adjacent to Junction 12, Gateway 12 at Waterwells Business Park and the £150 million Littlecombe scheme in Dursley.

Quedgeley West Business Park agents are Alder King and Ash and Co.
