Day nursery swoops on Falconhurst

Alphabet City Day Nursery have bought “Falconhurst”, Cliddesden Road, Basingstoke to open their second nursery in the town.

Falconhurst had most recently been used as a dental practice, dental laboratory and beauty salon and offices falling within Class D1 of the Use Classes Order. After an extensive marketing campaign conducted by London Clancy and despite obtaining a change of use for a single dwelling house, Alphabet City Day Nursery will retain the D1 use which includes “day nurseries”.

“We have been looking to set up another day nursery for some time and when we saw Falconhurst, we knew that it could make an ideal nursery” , said Mrs Kiran Johal of Alphabet City Day Nursery.

Built as a house in Victorian times the 3,000 sq ft property was used as a school during the Second World War.

“The building will create a very friendly and homely feel which fits our ethos to make it a happy and safe place for the children we will care for.” Mrs Johal added.

London Clancy acted for the private owners confirming that offers were invited in the region of £550,000 and the building needs considerable refurbishment.
