Market towns paint a pretty picture for retailers

The retail property market has had a rough ride over the past few years with many local and national retailers feeling the pinch. However, Alex Hirst of Goadsby believes that some of the south coasts pretty towns and cities are actually thriving despite the economic downturn.

Alex comments:-

“Many of the commentators on the retail property market tend to use phrases such as ‘terminal decline’ and ‘ghost towns’ when referring to local or district centres and this maybe true in some areas. However, Goadsby are noticing some of our more picturesque towns such as Romsey, Petersfield, Lymington and the Cathedral Cities are fairing well despite the tightening of the consumers money belts.

It’s hard to pin point one exact reason for the success of these areas but an established customer bases, good tourist trade and a good demographic are all probably contributing factors.”

Goadsby have recently been instructed to let rare retail properties at 5 Bell Street, Romsey and 50 High Street, Salisbury.
