Army charity sets up camp in West Bromwich

An Army charity has taken over a prominent site in West Bromwich – with the help of property agents Bond Wolfe.

Forces Support has moved into Unit 1, 34/36 Carters Green, formerly occupied by a branch of the United Carpets group.

Forces Support seeks to aid relatives of those lost in recent conflicts, particularly Iraq and Afghanistan, by helping around the home or restoring a much loved garden.

A spokesman said: “We want to thank all who have given their lives, by ensuring that their families have the practical support and assistance they need.

“We provide general maintenance – the work the lost family member would have done. Or the jobs that have built up while a family grieves. These small matters can seem insignificant but can become larger problems and a stark reminder, resulting in extra stress.”

Charity staff and volunteers carry out the work.

James Mattin, managing partner, said: “This is a wonderful cause – Forces Support are very much to be admired.

“We were very pleased to be able to help out and fix them up with this outlet. This is a quality unit with car parking – and fits with what the current market is demanding. The deal demonstrates the increase in High Street activity which is taking place.”

Forces Support have taken the 4,882 sq ft premises on a ten year lease.
