Redundant site bought for housing development

The site of a former NHS Health Clinic in Goldney Avenue in Chippenham has been sold to a specialist housing developer.

Alder King Property Consultants acted on behalf of The National Health Service to sell the 0.382 acre (0.155 hectare) site to the Sarsen Housing Association.

The site is situated to the north west of Chippenham town centre in a predominantly residential area, and is accessed off Marshfield Road (A420), adjacent to the landmark office building of Bewley House, via Dallas Road.  The land has been cleared and is ready for redevelopment and was sold subject to planning.  Sarsen has now secured planning consent and commenced construction on site.

Sarsen is a social landlord and owns and manages around 6,000 homes for rent and shared ownership across the South West.  The organisation has built nearly 2,000 homes in the region for residents since 1995 and provides different types of homes and tenures to meet a wide range of housing needs. This includes rented housing, supported housing and shared ownership homes.

Alison Williams, senior surveyor at Alder King said: “We were pleased to have concluded the deal to Sarsen, who will bring new life to the site.  They are well known for the strength of their developments, and have been a winner and finalist in a number of award schemes that recognise strength in community development, including the National Housing Federation Neighbourhood Awards, the Chartered Institute of Housing Awards and the Wiltshire Business of the Year Awards.”
