Welsh business managers start new part-time MBA at Cardiff Business School

Sixteen business managers from across Wales have enrolled at Cardiff Business School to start the School’s new part-time MBA.

An executive programme aimed at managers keen to take the next step in their careers, the new MBA has been designed to meet the needs of experienced managers looking for ways to extend their understanding and knowledge of business.

Taught in twelve weekday blocks of three days the programme enables managers to engage with University life while also being able to continue in their employment. The MBA consists of ten core modules, elective modules and a dissertation.

Spanning the course of 28 months, the programme has been designed to fit around work commitments and covers a range of core subjects, from corporate finance and marketing to HR and International Business. Students will participate in presentations, case studies, group discussions and debates, all designed to help them apply the theoretical concepts taught in the lectures to real-world contexts.

The new cohort come from a variety of organisations mainly across Wales including Welsh Government, Admiral, Acorn Recruitment, Cardiff Council and Deloitte.

Professor Martin Kitchener, Dean of Cardiff Business School, said the new part-time MBA was an exciting addition to the School’s offering:

“This flexible programme will bring together talented professionals to learn in an educational setting where we provide the latest in research expertise and where they can share best practice with peers from other organisations. Through a practitioner based approach to learning and teaching, the course will allow them to build on their professional experience to frame and enhance their knowledge and expertise.

“As well as learning from the highly-experienced teaching staff and from each other, the participants will be able to attend a range of business network events and high-profile guest lectures and will have access to our alumni networks, both now and for the future development of their careers.”

Cardiff Business School has been ranked fourth of the UK’s 96 business management schools for the quality of its research, with 35% of its research projects classified as ‘world leading’. With 145 years of teaching experience and a faculty of over 270 academics, the School has the third highest employability rate of any Russell Group institution with 94% of its graduates in full employment or further study six months after graduating. It is a truly international School, attracting students from over 60 countries.
