Simply UK boosts senior management team with two appointments

Andy Curran

Simply UK, the Glasgow-based real estate developer and owner of Morar Living, Scotland’s largest luxury care home provider, has expanded its senior management team with the appointment of Andy Curran as commercial director and Alistair Murray as head of procurement.

They will be based from the company headquarters in Baillieston on the outskirts of Glasgow.

Andy brings around 18 years industry and surveying experience and was formerly commercial director with McCarthy and Stone. He will be responsible for managing and maximising all commercial opportunities, in respect of care home development from land appraisals to final account transfer to Morar.

He will work closely with Alistair, who has more than 35 years experience in procurement with leading companies within the Scottish construction sector. He will play a vital role in project overseeing and managing Simply’s procurement procedures.

Alistair Murray

In addition to Andy and Alistair, Simply has also boosted its head office admin team with the appointments of Stacey Laidlaw within commercial operations and Gemma Scott within accounts.

Gary Sharp, Managing Director of Simply UK said:

“Andy and Alistair are valuable additions to our senior management team. They both have a wealth of experience in the construction sector and are well established and highly respected across the Scottish market.

“We launched the Morar Living brand earlier this year and our portfolio is leading the way across the healthcare and senior living sector. These appointments will ensure that we are able to continue our ambitious development and expansion plans, bringing luxury state-of-the-art care homes to communities across Scotland and the rest of the UK.”

Simply has ambitious growth plans and is now Scotland’s largest care home developer and is targeting having more than 1,000 beds across the UK by the end of 2022, with 350 beds coming to the market in 2021 and a further 500 beds during 2022.

Morar Living currently has more than 200 beds over three new care homes in Scotland – Castlehill in Inverness, which opened earlier this year and Harbour House in Musselburgh and Bridge of Weir in Renfrewshire, which are scheduled to open this year. A further three care homes are currently under construction at Perth, Stirling and Helensburgh and he group continue to work on a further 1000 beds throughout the UK.
